Cindee: A Vet In Training...K9DOC2B

I am proud to announce the successful completion of my veterinary education at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I am now "Dr. C" (in addition to being Cynthia Carlson, JD, graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Law). I practiced law as an associate and then an equity partner at a large multi-state law firm, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, for nearly 15 years before making this career transition.

I am also the two-legged critter responsible for Esquire Great Danes. I have been actively involved in the Great Dane fancy since early 1994, when I got my first Dane, "Denali" (Am⁄Int'l CH An Express Denali Quake). Denali, a natural eared harlequin, was the foundation sire of Esquire Great Danes, and was the second natural eared harlequin Dane ever to earn an AKC conformation championship. His son, "Remington" (Ch PCH Esq's The Smokin' Gun), is the fourth uncropped harlequin ever to finish an AKC conformation championship. Together, Denali and Remington are the first (and I believe at the time, the only) uncropped father and son Great Dane AKC champions in the history of the breed, of any color. While I do show cropped and uncropped Danes, it is rewarding to me personally to finish championships on natural eared babies, as many reputable breeders now have done. If you have a good enough dog, it is certainly possible.

I am a member of the Great Dane Club of America, the Great Dane Club of Western Washington, the Great Dane Club of Northern California and was a founding officer, director and member of the Monterey Bay Great Dane Club.

Esquire Danes are friends and family members. They all live in the house, and only venture outdoors to frolic, take a walk, take a sunbath, go to a dog show or "do their business." Our sofas are well worn from providing long hours of comfort to our Danes, and our beds are indented from their time honored silhouettes.

I breed sparingly -- only when I have space for and intend to keep one of the puppies, or one to go to a close friend -- and thus I do not have puppies available often. My males are likewise bred infrequently and are available on a limited basis to approved bitches only. I follow the lives of the offspring of my boys with equal attention as if I bred them myself.

My first litter, out of my bitch, Daneridge Esq's Prezumd N'Ocent ("Alibi") bred to a lovely mantle Denali son, Esquire's Court Jester (owned by Kathleen Davis of Davishire Danes), produced one of the first mantle Great Dane champions in this country, CH Esq Burke's Powerstroke ("Diesel"). Diesel, owned by Jennifer Bukrinsky, finished his championship at just over two years of age, winning five majors exclusively in stiff California competition. Look for Diesel, and Denali and Remington and Jester (and others), under "Esquire Boys."

My beloved champion, Denali, passed away at 9 1/2 years of age. His champion daughter, "Miranda" (Am⁄Int'l CH Express Rt To Remain Silent v. Esq), also crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. My home currently is graced by Denali's champion harlequin son, "Remington," and by Miranda's mantle son (a Denali grandson), "Cassidy" (Esq's Partner In Crime). I also have here "Sterling" (Rau's Every Cloud Has One), a multiple best of breed winning lovely harlequin bitch out of Denise and John Raudenbush's breeding in Wisconsin, and "Tiffany" (Esq's Diamond In The Ruff) -- a harlequin Remington daughter out of a lovely mantle bitch. This was a line breeding on old BMW. Tiffany will be shown natural eared -- working on the third generation of uncropped champions.

A big, bold mantle daughter of Remington x Sterling, named "Danica" (Esq's Cross 'N The Line) is one and a half and will hopefully come onto the Dane scene in 2008. Finally, we are introducing an outstanding harlequin Denali daughter, "Sunny" (Am/Int. CH An Express Denali Quake x Am/Can CH Notoriety's Broadway Baby), in the show ring in late 2007 and into 2008. Sunny earned her International Championship title in one weekend, including a best of breed win. Sunny will be bred in the Spring of 2008.

Feel free to email me with questions or inquiries. I truly love this breed; Danes have changed my life in so many ways, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge and love of these dogs with others. I hope that you enjoy looking at my Danes, and that you will always cherish yours.
